Description

Job Opportunity: CT Scan Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: CT Scan Tech
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, nights (Friday-Sunday, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 6 scans per hour
  • On-Call: No
  • Floating: May be required to float to other buildings or sister facilities within scope of practice
  • Radiation Badge: Must be supplied by the agency; facility does not provide badges

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 6 months in Level 1 Trauma required
    • 1 year preferred
    • Siemens equipment experience preferred
  • Certifications/Licenses:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ARRT RT (R) (CT)
    • SCRQSA (R) (CT)
  • State License: Must have South Carolina license in hand at start (no pending licenses accepted)
  • Radiation Badge: Required for all Radiology/Cardiology travelers except MRI Techs, Mammography Techs, Pediatric Echo Techs, and Ultrasound Techs

  • Parking: Paid parking required nights and weekends with a one-time $20 pass fee
  • Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Required searches include SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education verification required; diploma/transcripts accepted as placeholders if needed

Certifications

  • ACLS: Required for certain units; not required for this position unless specified
  • BLS: Required for all clinical staff, must be current and valid beyond 30 days from start
  • PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke, CHEMO certifications as applicable by unit
  • Tech Certification Verification: Required for allied health professionals
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required, must be active and unencumbered
  • NURSYS verification for RNs/LPNs/LVNs as applicable

Health Documents

  • Physical exam: Initial and annual updates required
  • Fit mask test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, annual renewal required
  • Immunizations:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or documented positive with chest x-ray
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titers or vaccination series with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
  • Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug-April)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
  • Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system
  • Radiation badge process must be initiated and received before starting patient care
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references required
  • Employment history verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: 60 miles; locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • All return-to-office (RTO) requests must be submitted and approved prior to start
  • Travelers should be aware of potential hurricane season emergency assignments

This position is ideal for CT Scan Technologists with trauma experience and required certifications who are comfortable working night shifts and floating within a large teaching hospital system.
