Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position at a pediatric facility; technologist will work independently and must be able to manage pediatric trauma cases solo.
- Shift: Friday to Sunday, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
- On-call: One scheduled day requested.
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to other buildings, but not to sister facilities.
- Daily caseload ratio: 1.5 patients per tech.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year preferred; first-timers accepted if experienced.
- Radius rule: 50 miles; local candidates accepted.
- State license: Must have South Carolina license in hand at start (no pending licenses accepted).
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- Block schedule accommodation: Possible with prior approval but not guaranteed.
Required Certifications & Experience
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- ARRT RT (R) (CT) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - Required for all pediatric units except Pediatric OR.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) - AHA/AAP certification required.
- Trauma 1 experience required.
- Siemens CT experience required.
- Radiation badge required (agency must supply).
- Children's hospital experience preferred.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Not required for pediatric units.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Not required for ER RNs.
- Fit Mask test (N95) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit.
Licensing & Verification
- South Carolina RN or relevant license required with primary source verification.
- NURSYS verification required for RNs/LPNs.
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholders.
- Background checks including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches.
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start.
- Employment history verification for last 3 clinical employers.
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam: Initial and annual updates required.
- Fit mask test: N95 mask fit test required annually.
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- TB test: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated.
- Drug testing: 10-panel urine screen within 90 days of start.
Facility Specifics
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Teal top and black bottom.
- Parking: Night and weekend parking available for a one-time fee.
- Hurricane season (June-November): Staff may be assigned to emergency response teams.
- Orientation: Completion of online modules (approx. 2 hours) required before orientation; failure to complete results in being sent home.
- Badge photo: Clear, passport-style photo required before start.
- Radiation badge process: Must be obtained before starting patient care; may take 5-7 days to process.

- Floating may be required within the facility but not to sister facilities.
- Candidates must be able to work independently in a pediatric trauma environment.
- Agency responsible for supplying radiation badges and tracking.
- All required documents (licenses, certifications, health records) must be current and uploaded prior to start.
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but requires prior approval.
This position is ideal for CT technologists with pediatric trauma experience who are comfortable working independently in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment.
