Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Fishersville, Virginia
Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital
Total Staffed Beds: 255
Charting System: Meditech
Shift: Primarily 11a-11p with flexibility to cover this shift more frequently if needed
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Important Facility Policies

  • Zero-Tolerance for THC: No medical marijuana cards accepted.
  • Drug Screening: Drug screen required on compliance and again on day 1 onsite. Failed onsite drug screen results in cancellation.
  • Parking: Free parking in any unrestricted space.

Required Credentials & Certifications

  • State License: Valid Virginia or Compact State License verification required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS): AHA or ARC accepted; required for all candidates except Sterile Processing techs.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): Required for ED/ER, ICU, PCU, CPU, OR, OB/L&D, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, Anesthesia, PACU.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS): Required for Pediatrics, ER/ED, PACU.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): Required for OB, LDRP, NICU, Nursery.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Check unit-specific requirements.
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Acceptable in lieu of CPI for behavioral health roles.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for ICU, PCU, ED, Float Pool; must be updated annually.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI): Required for Psych units, highly recommended for ED.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, counties/states lived/worked, sex offender registry, and facility-level checks.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Virginia State Police fingerprinting required (effective 7/15/2025); behavioral health candidates will have fingerprinting and CPS check onsite.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
  • Fit Mask Test: Annual N95 fit testing required; onsite testing available. Medical/religious exemptions handled case-by-case.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap: Vaccine within past 10 years required.
  • TB Testing: Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year or chest X-ray if positive TB history. Annual TB questionnaire required.
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed to start pending second dose.
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccine series, or declination required.
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed to start pending second dose.
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start including marijuana.
  • Flu Vaccination: Required during flu season (10/1 - 3/31). Medical and religious exemptions allowed with facility-specific forms submitted two weeks prior to start. Declinations not accepted.

Documentation & Onboarding Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Completion and review of multiple facility-specific documents including:
    • Standards of Appearance, Conduct, Dress Code, Masking Requirements
    • Confidentiality Agreement, Social Media Policy, Acceptable Use Policy
    • Workplace Wellness Consent, Compliance Acknowledgement, Parking Registration
    • Influenza Exemption Forms (if applicable)
    • Patient Care Disclosure, Policy Procedure Acknowledgement, Interest Profile
    • Education Booklet and Attestation
  • Employment application/resume and 2 professional references required.
  • Skills checklist updated annually for specialty.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exams as applicable.

Additional Notes

  • Facility requires candidates to review and initial campus map and other orientation materials prior to start.
  • Candidates must be prepared for possible shift flexibility based on unit needs.
  • Facility uses Meditech for charting.
