Description

Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Travel/Contract Position

Location: Valdese, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 3 PM – 10 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Experience Required: Minimum 1 year

Key Requirements

Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA only, RQI accepted. Required for multiple specialties including CCU, ED, ICU, Med-Surg, Telemetry, RRT, etc.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA only, RQI accepted. Required for all candidates.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA only, RQI accepted. Required for ED RNs and RRTs.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): AHA only. Required for Antepartum, L&D, Mother/Baby, NICU RNs, and RRTs.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Preferred for ED.
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN. Required for Antepartum, L&D, Mother/Baby.
  • Tech Certification Verification: Required based on profession/state; preferred for Surgical Techs.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required (signed HIPAA form or Core testing).
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required.
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP.
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required for all RNs and LVN/LPNs; must be renewed annually.

Background Checks & Documentation

  • 7-year criminal background check within one year of start, updated annually. Includes all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for every contract renewal.
  • Official transcripts required (diplomas not accepted) for RRTs and Labs/Techs.
  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam attestation annually (unless no 30-day break in service).
  • Fit testing for N95 masks within 1 year of start.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • TB test (PPD, QGold, or T-spot) within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Drug testing: 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant tests accepted.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
  • Respiratory safety clearance required prior to start and updated annually.

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Passport-style photo for badge (RNs must wear navy scrub top).
  • Completion of demographic, vehicle information, confidentiality, new hire, culture commitment, and conflict of interest forms.
  • Completion of facility-specific training modules for ED travelers prior to start.
  • Signed job description and flu exemption forms if applicable.

Competencies & History

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Competency exam required.
  • Minimum of 2 clinical references dated within a year of start.
  • Skills checklist required.
  • Performance and internal evaluations required if previously worked with the system over 1 or 2 years respectively.
  • Complete employment application/resume required.
