Description

Cath Lab Tech Opportunity - Martinsburg, West Virginia

Position Overview

  • Specialty: Cath Lab Tech
  • Location: Martinsburg, WV
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (some 10-hour shifts 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM)
  • Call: Approximately 10-11 call shifts per month, Monday - Friday 3:30 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Weekend Requirement: Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM - 7:00 AM (same as RNs)
  • Holidays: Covered by call shifts, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Unit Details

  • Department: Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology (IR)
  • Facilities: 7 suites/holding rooms and 2 cath labs (2 bays & 5 rooms)
  • Team: 3-person team (2 RNs and 1 tech)
  • Typical Cases: 2 to 9 cases per day (average 4-5)
  • Common Procedures: Adult cardiac cases including peripheral cath, PCI, devices, ICD, pacers; no EP or ablations
  • Equipment/Systems:
    • EMR: "Cupid" (EPIC & Dynamics system is Xper)
    • Telemetry: Phillips, hardwired at bedside
    • Pharmacy: Omnicell with some meds mixed in lab
    • Ventilator support by RT if needed (RT called from ICU)

Certifications & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum Experience: 2 years in Cath Lab
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA)
    • BLS (AHA)
    • Certified Radiologic Technologist - ARRT (R) verification required
    • WV License/ARRT required for CV Invasive Rad Techs (RCIS not accepted)
  • Additional Skills: Experience with IABP, IVUS preferred; familiarity with Acist injector helpful but not required (training provided)

Orientation & Training

  • 2 shifts with a preceptor
  • Followed by a "buddy call" period in Cath Lab
  • May float to Non-Invasive CV to start IVs

Additional Information

  • Scrubs provided (RNs wear Navy Blue, Rad Techs wear Burgundy)
  • Cardiologists on-call 24/7
  • Call response time expectations same for RNs and techs
  • Travel teams must be submitted together; only 2 candidates submitted per opening
  • COVID-19 vaccine required (2 Moderna/Pfizer shots or 1 J&J); medical/religious exemptions require approval
  • Background checks required at time of submission

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Techs seeking a 13-week contract in a busy adult cardiac interventional setting with a supportive team environment and comprehensive orientation.
