Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Facility: Main Campus Hospital - HVTI-Stepdown Float Pool
Job Details

- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only (Day/Night rotating shifts: 7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
- Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs; rotation rights reserved.
- Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 18 months permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel.
- Minimum 18 months recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted).
- PCU/Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.
- Licensing:
- Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand.
- Certifications Required:
- AHA or American Red Cross BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday.
- Testing:
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation; passing scores required.
Orientation & Training
- Online training modules must be completed prior to start; typically takes multiple days.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before testing.
- Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing completed onsite during orientation. Retakes available after 1 week if needed.
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for review before orientation testing.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Identification: Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background Checks:
- Comprehensive background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks.
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required: Tdap (every 10 years), MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B. Religious/medical exemptions reviewed case-by-case; declinations not accepted.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
- Drug screening (standard 10-panel) within 12 months, updated annually. Instant drug screens not accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31).
- References: Two professional references from within one year of start, from a manager, supervisor, or director (co-worker references not accepted).
- Employment History: Must include 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar specialty.
- Competency Exams:
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
- Certifications & Verifications:
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual and pass/fail testing (except OR).
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding modules and documentation prior to start date.
- Fingerprinting results must be received prior to contract extension; candidates may start with results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start.
- Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some orientation/testing requirements waived.
- Facility accommodates latex allergies with notification to ensure latex-free supplies.
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and testing requirements to maintain assignment eligibility.
This position offers a structured travel nursing opportunity in a cardiac stepdown float pool with a reputable healthcare system, requiring solid cardiac stepdown experience, Ohio licensure, and comprehensive compliance with health and background requirements.
