Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Facility: Pediatric Level IV NICU
Job Details
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day/Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00am-7:30pm, 7:00pm-7:30am)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, plus 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
- Shift Options: Will accept 4x12s and 26-week contracts
Specialty & Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse in Level IV NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit)
- Years of Experience:
- Must have completed 2 years in an acute care setting
- Plus at least 1 year in a Level IV NICU or Level III NICU
- Accepts 1 year of Level III NICU experience in lieu of 2 years of Level IV, provided candidate has 1 full year of Level IV NICU experience
- Clinical Experience:
- Experience with post-op patients, G-tubes, trach/vent management
- Familiarity with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation
- Electronic Medical Record: Epic experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
- Telemetry: Basic arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - American Heart Association only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required
- Telemetry test pass required before starting
Additional Requirements
- Floating: Travelers may float to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
- Distance: Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Facility: Magnet®-designated pediatric medical and surgical center with nationally recognized pediatric specialists
- Patient Population: Critically ill newborns and infants requiring advanced diagnostic and therapeutic services in a 26-bed NICU
Compliance & Testing
- Must complete Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Pass/Fail testing for EKG/Medication competency required
- Background checks including caregiver screening, education verification, and state-specific requirements
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccination proof
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titers
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual)
- Other vaccines or declinations as applicable (e.g., Meningococcal for certain departments)
