Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Facility: Pediatric Level IV NICU
Job Details
- Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, with 2-3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
- Unit: 26-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Patient Population: Critically ill newborns and infants requiring advanced medical and surgical care
- Care Focus: Post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, invasive/noninvasive ventilation
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years acute care experience plus 1 year Level IV NICU experience (or 1 year Level III NICU plus 1 year Level IV NICU)
- Experience with post-op neonatal patients and ventilator management
- Epic electronic health record experience required (preferably within last 12 months)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS (American Heart Association only)
- PALS (American Heart Association only)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Telemetry test pass required before starting
Additional Requirements
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the work site
- Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
- Must complete facility-specific Pediatric Telemetry Test annually
- Must complete required background checks, education verifications, and competency exams as per facility standards

Health & Compliance Requirements
- Immunizations: MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), Tdap, Flu vaccine or approved exemption
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframe
- Drug screening as per facility and Vaya standards
- Physical exam (per Vaya standard)
- Annual competency and skills checklist requirements
- Completion of facility-specific forms and acknowledgments (e.g., communicable disease, flu exemption, telemetry testing)
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs with strong acute care backgrounds, advanced neonatal skills, and required certifications seeking a travel contract in a highly specialized pediatric environment.
