Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU) - South Hill, Virginia
Position Details

Experience Requirements

Background and Compliance Requirements

- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting via Virginia State Police required for certain units (Pediatrics, NICU, Psych, etc.)
- Education verification: Degree from NLN or CCNE accredited program required
- References: 2 required
- Employment application/resume required
- Performance evaluations completed at end of assignment (not required prior)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
- Medical fit mask test within 1 year prior to start (N95 or PAPR required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test (Q-gold/T-spot within 30 days of start or two PPDs including one within 30 days)
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers required; boosters if low titers
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
- Seasonal flu vaccine required (declinations not accepted except approved religious/medical exemptions)
- Drug testing within 30-60 days of start (9-panel minimum; instant drug screens not accepted)
- Latex questionnaire required prior to start
Competency and Orientation
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required for RNs
- Color blindness testing required
- Abuse reporting competency required (covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, neglect/exploitation)
- Facility-specific exams at orientation including:
- Pharmacology exam
- Point of Care Testing
- Airborne Precaution Mask Fitting
- Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) for ICU, Tele/Step-Down, Progressive Care units
- Orientation includes completion of assigned learning modules (~6 hours)

- Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
- Proof of primary residence must match compact licensure if applicable
- Photo for badge required prior to document due date (specific photo guidelines apply)
- Confidentiality agreement required prior to start
