Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Radiology / Cardiology)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Perform high-quality CT examinations on patients ranging from newborn to geriatric under general supervision.
- Report to the manager of CT and director of radiology.
- Work schedule: Friday to Sunday, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM).
- On-call required Monday-Thursday evenings (5 PM - 6 AM) on a rotation basis, approximately every 4-5 weeks. On-call duties involve covering 3rd shift call-outs or assisting during multiple trauma cases.
- No floating between service lines or sister facilities.
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a CT Technologist.
- First-time travelers accepted.
- Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in CT.
- Required certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) only.
- ARRT (CT) certification.
- South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) certification.
- Must have a current South Carolina state license at the time of start (pending license not accepted).
- Radiation badge required; must be provided by the agency (facility does not provide).
- Minimum education: Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program or completion of a clinical rotation with ARRT certification by end of rotation.
Skills & Special Requirements
- Ability to start IVs, administer contrast, perform biopsies.
- Experience with PACS system.
- Work includes inpatient, outpatient (Friday only), ER, and scheduled interventional cases (Friday only).
Facility & Work Environment
- Level III Trauma, Acute Care Hospital with 286 staffed beds.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Teal top and black bottom.
- Free parking available.
- Local radius for travel: 60 miles.
- Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; travelers should consider this before accepting new or extended assignments.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify).
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card.
- Annual background check covering 7 years of residence/employment, including multiple specific searches (SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, etc.).
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder.
- OFAC Sanctions List Search required prior to start.
- South Carolina Medicaid Excluded Providers search for sub-vendors.
- Proof of 2 clinical references.
- Complete employment application/resume.
- Skills checklist updated annually.
- Radiation badge process must be initiated before start; badge delivery may take 5-7 days.
- Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands.
- Fit mask test done onsite during orientation; facial hair must be shaved or trimmed prior.
- Required vaccinations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed.
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination.
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if needed.
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations).
- COVID vaccines highly preferred but not required; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed.
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; if positive history, additional documentation required.
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests).
- Respirator medical clearance annually via RespSafety questionnaire.
Competency & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required; pediatric OR candidates may use regular pharmacology exam if no pediatric experience.
- Color blindness testing required prior to start.
- Competency exam required; pediatric OR candidates may use regular OR competency exam if no pediatric experience.
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (4-6 hours estimated) prior to start; failure to complete results in being sent home.
- First Day Instructions (FDI) and OurDay platform used for module completion and vaccine documentation uploads.
- Passport-style badge photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire).
- Job description acknowledgment required prior to start.
Additional Notes
- Approval required for block scheduling but not guaranteed.
- Locals accepted at a reduced rate on a case-by-case basis.
- All return-to-office (RTO) requirements must be included at submission and approved based on facility needs.
This position is ideal for CT Technologists with at least 1 year of experience, current ARRT and state licensure, and the ability to work a weekend schedule with on-call responsibilities during the week. The facility emphasizes compliance with certifications, health screenings, and documentation to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
