Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (PACU) - Travel/Contract
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Contract Length: 14 weeks (interpreted from contract_length: 14)
Shift: 3 x 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), Sunday through Saturday
Unit Ratio: 1:2
Floating: May float within Pre-Op and Post-Op departments based on competency
Job Description
- Position: PACU Registered Nurse
- Night shift coverage, 3 shifts per week
- Floating as needed within Pre-Op and Post-Op units
- Scrubs: All colors/patterns allowed except other institution insignia; optional periwinkle OR scrubs available (access takes ~2 weeks)
- Return to Office (RTO) policy: Only 3 days approved per 13-week contract; 7 days approved between primary and extension contracts; full work week required around RTO days
- Flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees
Requirements
Licensure & Certifications
- DC RN License in hand prior to start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - must be current prior to start (can be submitted without but required before assignment begins)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - must be current prior to start (can be submitted without but required before assignment begins)
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in:
- Telemetry and ventilator care, AND
- PACU experience, or a combination of PACU and ICU, or high acuity Emergency Department experience
- Prior travel experience required: Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment
Additional Requirements & Competencies
- Criminal background check within 90 days, including multi-state and federal searches
- E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks prior to start and monthly thereafter
- Education verification for highest degree required by position
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% passing score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year, minimum 80% overall and 100% lethal rhythms section (required for telemetry, ICU, PACU, ED, and other critical care units)
- Color blindness testing (online or in-person)
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Physical exam within last year confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 Fit Test within 9 months and updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana), updated annually
- Immunizations and health documentation:
- Flu vaccine (or approved medical/religious exemption) required for flu season (Sept-Mar)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within last year (or as per history)
- Documentation of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Varicella vaccine or positive titer
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years preferred
Work History & References
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
- Verification of minimum 2 years of employment in the past 7 years, preferably the most recent 2 years
- Attestations acceptable for work history verification
Notes
- Facility requires strict adherence to flu vaccination policy with limited exemptions
- Scrub machine access requires at least 2 weeks to obtain
- Travelers must comply with RTO (Return to Office) days policy
- Prior travel experience is mandatory for this travel contract position
This opportunity is ideal for experienced PACU RNs with telemetry and ventilator experience who have completed at least one prior travel assignment and hold current DC licensure and required certifications.
