Job Description

• Work in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1 (may be 5:1 depending on acuity)
• Care acuity includes drip management: neo up to 100, precedex, and insulin at IMCU level of care
• Rapid turnaround time (RTO) required: 7 days or less, with only 1 holiday allowed off
• Local candidates accepted

Required Licenses and Certifications

• New York RN License
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA strongly preferred
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA strongly preferred
• NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
• Epic Electronic Health Record experience required
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty (IMCU or similar critical care setting)
• Drip experience including neo, precedex, and insulin at IMCU level

Competencies and Exams

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit; expires every 3 years)
• Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
• Competency Exam relevant to profession (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot NOT accepted)
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (positive titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
• 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
• Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination

Documentation and Onboarding Requirements

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form
• Background Checks including:

  • 7-year SS Trace and County searches
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
  • HHS/OIG (annual)
  • Education Verification
• Facility-specific documents including:

  • Photo for badge (headshot, plain background)
  • Online learning modules to be completed prior to first shift
  • Signed Job Description and Welcome Packet acknowledgment
  • Omnicell Form (for nursing staff)
• References:

  • 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• The role requires strong critical care skills and familiarity with IMCU level drips and monitoring.
• Epic EHR experience is mandatory.
