- 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4:1 (may be 5:1 depending on acuity)
- Care acuity includes drip management: neo up to 100, precedex, and insulin at IMCU level of care
- Rapid turnaround time (RTO) required: 7 days or less, with only 1 holiday allowed off
- Local candidates accepted
Required Licenses and Certifications
- New York RN License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA strongly preferred
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA strongly preferred
- NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
- Epic Electronic Health Record experience required
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York)
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty (IMCU or similar critical care setting)
- Drip experience including neo, precedex, and insulin at IMCU level
Competencies and Exams
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor M/S Unit; expires every 3 years)
- Color Blind Testing (required prior to start)
- Competency Exam relevant to profession (minimum 80% or meet/exceed Angoff score)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot NOT accepted)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
- 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
- Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination
Documentation and Onboarding Requirements
- Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year SS Trace and County searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
- HHS/OIG (annual)
- Education Verification
- Facility-specific documents including:
- Photo for badge (headshot, plain background)
- Online learning modules to be completed prior to first shift
- Signed Job Description and Welcome Packet acknowledgment
- Omnicell Form (for nursing staff)
- References:
- 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
