- Floating: Yes, floating between units based on needs and skill set is required. Floating may include multiple facilities in the region.
- On-Call: No
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Block Schedules: Not required
- Patient Ratios: 1:20
- Vehicle: Must have a vehicle for this assignment
- Additional Floating Info:
- Floating to Seaside facility includes additional incentives and hotel accommodations for consecutive shifts.
- Facility will provide as much notice as possible for floating assignments.
Experience Requirements
- Years of Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year (1YR/1ST TIMERS OK)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Must be AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Current certification required if applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy): Verify if required based on unit
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Verify if required; AWHONN or NCC-EFM accepted
- IV Certification: Verify if required
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB): Verify if required
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required every 2 years if applicable
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Verify if required
Licensure
- State License: Must have valid Oregon RN license
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Other License Verifications: As applicable
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Various state-specific searches and verifications as required
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or declination
- COVID vaccine or declination
- Fit mask testing required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
- Respirator safety clearance required for travel starts after 2/5/2024, updated annually
Training and Competency
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams as required by specialty/unit
- Color Blind Testing if specifically requested
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
- Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start
- Providence WorkRamp modules (Core, Specialty, Regional) required based on region and specialty
- Floating policy acknowledgment required
Scheduling and Work Conditions
- Floating between multiple Providence facilities in the region may be required
- No on-call duties
- Weekend shifts every other weekend
- No block scheduling required
- Patient ratio approximately 1:20
Additional Notes
- Must have reliable transportation
- Floating assignments may include multiple locations: Milwaukie, Newberg, Portland, Hood River, Willamette Falls, Seaside, and Saint Vincent
- Incentives and accommodations provided for floating to certain locations (e.g., Seaside)
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 1 year of experience who are flexible with floating and weekend shifts, and who meet the certification and licensure requirements for Oregon.
