Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Roanoke, Virginia

Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Job Description
- Position: Resource Pool RN covering ICU and PCU units
- Start: ASAP preferred
- Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Holiday shifts required
- Contract duration: 13 to 52 weeks accepted; up to 52 weeks by request
- Must be comfortable working across all ICU and PCU units
- Staffing office may reassign/floats nurses to different ICU or PCU units every 4 hours
- Patient Ratios:
- ICU: 2:1
- PCU: 5:1
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Large Level 1/Level 2 ICU experience required
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with ICU/PCU experience
- Required years of experience: Large L1/L2 ICU experience required (implies advanced critical care experience; no explicit years stated, assume at least 2+ years ICU experience)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only

- NURSYS verification required for all RNs (within 30 days of start)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- I9 or attestation required
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID required within 48 hours of signing; must confirm distance eligibility (must live more than 100 miles from facility to be eligible for travel assignment)
- E-Verify or attestation required
- 7-year background check required (within 1 year of start) covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions
- Education verification of highest earned degree required (transcript/diploma may be accepted as placeholder)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming free from communicable diseases
- Fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually (not required for students)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Flu vaccination or declination form required during flu season
- Photo for badge required (professional photo with plain background)
- Completion of new hire paperwork and compliance checklists prior to start
- Orientation Safety Manual review required prior to start (not required for inpatient RNs)
- References: 2 clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)

- Local traveler eligibility based on distance from facility:
- 0-49.9 miles: eligible for one 13-week assignment, no extension
- 50-99.9 miles: eligible for one 13-week assignment, no extension
- Over 100 miles: eligible for travel assignment with possible extensions
- Christmas time off requests (RTO) cannot be approved
- Must be able to work night shifts and holidays
- Must be flexible to float between ICU and PCU units frequently
This position is ideal for experienced ICU/PCU RNs comfortable with a dynamic, fast-paced environment requiring flexibility and strong critical care skills.
