Registered Nurse - Pediatric Acute Care Float Pool
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Float position within the Missouri facility, expected to float to other similar pediatric units on-site within the same campus.
- Minimal chance of floating to Kansas; therefore, a Kansas nursing license is preferred but not mandatory if willing to obtain.
- Floating limited to similar specialties/acuity levels.
- Pediatric Acute Care experience or Pediatric Med Surge experience considered.
- Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts.
- Local candidates are acceptable at the same rate.
- Must be licensed to work in Missouri.
- Clean Nursys verification required.
- Flexible schedules preferred.
- Prior travel experience is required.
Required Certifications
- ACLS (AHA only; RQI not accepted)
- BLS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; RQI not accepted)
- PALS (AHA only; HeartCode accepted; required for all RNs except Case Managers)
- NRP (AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification, as required)
- TNCC (required for ER/Peds ER)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (RNs only)
- State License Verification (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification (required for all RNs)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) with 100% passing score (RNs only)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) required for Behavioral Health Techs and RNs going to Crisis Center (not required for 5 West Behavioral Health RNs)
Required Documents & Checks
- Government issued photo ID (carried during hours of service)
- Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
- Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
- Background Check within 3 months of start, including:
- Every county worked or lived in for past 7 years
- Sex Offender search
- Johnson County, KS and Wyandotte County, KS checks
- Statewide search for Missouri and Kansas
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start, updated every 6 months
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start, updated every 6 months
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check (MO only)
- Missouri EDL Search Results (for compliance)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam (initial and annual)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (2-step PPD or equivalent)
- Annual TB Questionnaire
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Respiratory Safety Clearance or Respirator Questionnaire (as applicable)
Competencies & Testing
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam (not required for Case Managers)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all clinical candidates)
- Pediatric competency exam (required)
- Medication calculation/dosage test during orientation (100% passing required; three attempts allowed)

- Specialty: Registered Nurse (Pediatrics or Pediatric Med Surge)
- Minimum Years of Experience: Not explicitly stated, but pediatric experience required.
