Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Tele/Step-Down)
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Telemetry/Step-Down Unit
- Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks out (per compliance tier)
- Shift Options: Can sign for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-Call: Not required
- Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
- Block Schedule: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (75 mile radius rule)
- Pending License: Accepted
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Special Requirements:
- Telemetry/step-down experience required
- Experience with EKG and cardiac drips

- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Telemetry/Step-Down)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Criminal background check within 6 months of start (7-year search including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks quarterly
- Education verification of highest nursing education
- State-specific searches and highway patrol checks as required
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA only)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Other certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke Certification)
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (annual renewal required)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
- Immunizations or immunity documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season

- HIPAA Acknowledgement (annual)
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire (annual)
- Confidentiality Form (annual)
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, must score 80% or higher)
- Hepatitis B declination (annual)

- Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
- Orientation Modules (approximately 16 hours, required prior to start)
Other Requirements
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific skills checklist within 1 year of start
- Employment application must be submitted and uploaded
Additional Notes
- No more than 7 days of Return to Origin (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract
- Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete required documentation prior to start
- Floating within scope is expected to meet facility needs
This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry/Step-Down Registered Nurses looking for a travel contract in a high-acuity, Magnet-designated, teaching hospital environment with a Level I trauma center.
