Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Johnston, Iowa

Job Requirements

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year pediatric LTAC experience required
  • Proficient or expert at tracheostomies
• Licensure:

  • Iowa or Compact License required
• Schedule:

  • Every Other Week (EOW) schedule
  • Up to 3 weekends in a six-week period
• Travel Experience:

  • 1st time travelers are welcome (prior travel experience NOT required)
  • Locals are also eligible

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred but NOT required

Compliance & Documentation

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year SS Trace
  • County searches for last 7 years
  • Nationwide Sex Offender check
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
  • HHS/OIG (annual)
• Competency exams with minimum passing score of 80% (or Angoff score if higher)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit Mask (N95) within last year, renewed annually
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (with specific protocols for past positives)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal Flu and COVID vaccines are highly recommended but not required; declination forms available. Masking required in patient care areas if unvaccinated.
• Iowa Single Contact Repository (SING) Check must be completed within 30 days of assignment start (includes criminal, dependent adult, child abuse, and sex offender searches)

Additional Requirements

• Child and Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter training (2-hour online course) must be completed prior to start
• Contractor Confidentiality Agreement must be signed prior to start
• References:

  • 2 professional references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care
  • 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care
  • Not required for non-clinical roles
• Skills Checklist required annually

This position offers a pediatric LTAC nursing opportunity with a focus on tracheostomy care, suitable for both experienced travel nurses and first-timers, with a 13-week contract in Iowa.
