Requirements

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • New York RN License (must have in hand)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • Epic charting experience
  • Flu vaccine or approved exemption (medical/religious exemptions must be approved prior to start)
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience
  • At least 1 year current experience with telemetry patient population
  • Critical drip and CVA experience is a plus
• Skills:

  • Must be able to read cardiac rhythms and pass a hospital proctored test with >80% accuracy in rhythm identification and 100% accuracy in identifying critical rhythms
  • Telemetry skills required
• Patient Ratio: 1:4-5

• Local rule: Travelers must reside outside a 50-mile radius from Saratoga Springs, specifically excluding certain counties (Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster).
• Must pass an advanced EKG/ECG test within 72 hours of signing contract with a minimum score of 90% and 100% on lethal rhythms. Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation.
• Must complete various competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency.
• Must complete Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training as per New York State requirements.
• Must complete physical exam, drug screening, and immunization/titer requirements prior to start.
• Required immunizations and health documents include:

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof or titers
  • Varicella proof or titer
  • Hepatitis B proof or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption
• Must complete fit mask test (N95 OSHA questionnaire) and bring required forms.
• Must complete HealthStream online orientation modules before start date.
• Passport-style photo required for badge.
• Must complete lift assessment (usually 25 lbs, sometimes 10 lbs depending on position).
