Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Midland, Texas
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Position Summary
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
- Preferred start date: January
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Room (ER) or equivalent size setting required
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – must be willing to obtain if not currently held
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required for all clinical staff
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – required for ER and related departments
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – required for ER
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – required as applicable (Antepartum, L&D, NICU)
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – required as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – preferred for Labor & Delivery
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – required as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification – required for all clinical positions (not required for Allied)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of ER experience (default to higher requirement if discrepancies found)
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 10-year Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start, including SSN trace and all locations lived/worked
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- State-specific background checks for Texas (DPS Criminal History, Employee Misconduct Registry, Employability Status Check) within 30 days of start
- Education verification and transcript/diploma required for certain specialties (e.g., Cath Lab, CVOR, L&D)
- Drug screening required prior to start and additional onsite drug screen during orientation
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or agency declination (required Oct 1 - Mar 31)
Competency and Skills Verification
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
- Competency exams and age-specific competency exams required within 1 year of start
- Skills checklist updated annually
- References: 2 references required within 3 years of start
- Employment application or resume required
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Confidentiality and Security Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Drug Screening and Blood Testing Consent Form must be signed prior to start
- TB Questionnaire required for all candidates
- Compliance checklist to be signed by candidate and agency
- Orientation and safety manual acknowledgement required, updated annually
Additional Notes
- Government-issued photo ID required
- State license verification and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
- N95 Fit Mask test required within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
- Technical certification verification required for applicable allied health roles
This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are available for a 12-week travel contract in Midland, Texas.
