Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Midland, Texas

Job Details

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required as applicable (Antepartum, L&D, Mother-Baby, NICU)
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – Required as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Preferred for L&D (Intermediate or Advanced AWHONN)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Required as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification – Required for all clinical positions (not required for Allied)
  • State License Verification – Must be valid within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification for RN – Required within 30 days of start

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years ER experience (defaulted to higher requirement)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
  • Must be willing to obtain ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC if not currently held

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 10-year Criminal Background Check required within 30 days of start (all locations lived/worked)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check required within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check required within 30 days of start
  • Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal History Check required within 30 days prior to start
  • Texas Employee Misconduct Registry and Employability Status Checks required within 30 days prior to start
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen during orientation
  • Physical Exam required within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • N95 Fit Test (Fit Mask) required within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
  • TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Immunizations/Vaccinations required within 72 hours of contract signing:
    • Rubeola (Measles) – Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Mumps – Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Rubella – Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B – Positive titer or series (3 doses) required
    • Varicella – Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history of chickenpox required
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – Required within 10 years of start
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Agency Declination required October 1 - March 31

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required as applicable
  • Competency Exam required within 1 year of start
  • Age Specific Competency Exam required within 1 year of start

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Confidentiality and Security Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • Drug Screening and Blood Testing Consent Form must be reviewed and signed prior to start
  • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates regardless of TB status
  • Compliance Checklist to be signed by candidate and agency
  • Certification by Cost Center review (QM use only)

Documentation & History

  • 2 professional references required within 3 years of start
  • Copy of Resume/Application required
  • Skills Checklist required and must be updated annually

This position requires a Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of ER experience, current certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and TNCC, and compliance with extensive background checks, immunizations, and competency exams. The contract length is approximately 12 weeks with a preferred January start date.
