Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Kansas City, Missouri
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Work in Hematology/Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant/GI unit
- Cover RN duties while staff are trained on EPIC system
- Day shift: 06:55 AM – 07:30 PM
- Must be licensed to work in Missouri (Kansas license preferred)
- Prior travel experience is required
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, HeartCode accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only, HeartCode accepted
- Preferred: APHON Chemotherapy-Biotherapy Certificate
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only (not required for RRT or OR)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – AHA 8th Edition Advanced Certification (as required)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER/Peds ER
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Required for RNs going to Crisis Center (not required for 5 West Behavioral Health RNs)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – 100% required on medication calculation/dosage test during orientation
Experience Requirements

- Sex Offender search required
- Statewide search for Missouri and Kansas required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated every 6 months
- Missouri Highway Patrol Check required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands (initial and annual)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2-step PPD or Qgold/T-Spot within 90 days)
- Annual TB Questionnaire
- Proof of vaccinations or titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (3 vaccines, titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Medical/Religious Exemption required (no declinations accepted)
- Respirator Safety Clearance or Respirator Questionnaire (RespSafety accepted)
Competency & Testing
- Pediatric pharmacology competency exam required
- Pediatric competency exam required
- Color Blind Testing (online) required for all clinical candidates
- Medication calculation/dosage test during orientation (must pass with 100%)
Documentation & Other Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service
- E-Verify proof or attestation required
- Facility-specific health forms, TB questionnaire, medication review packet, and other onboarding documents must be completed timely
- Two supervisory references or performance evaluations verified within 1 year of start
- Skills checklist for pediatric nursing required
- Employment application/resume required
