Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
  • Unit: Renal Medical-Surgical
  • Ratio / Census: 1:5-6; 49 rooms with an average daily census of 48
  • Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis, SBAR
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days
  • Schedule: Every other weekend required
  • Floating: Yes
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays, expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays, expected to work two
  • Major Holidays Include: New Year’s Eve/Day, Spring Break, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 1 year (1st timers accepted)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS may be required depending on specialty area (check clinical track)
    • Other certifications (PALS, NRP, EFM) may be required depending on specialty area
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for certain specialties)

Compliance & Orientation

  • Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time
  • Non-compliance may result in a 2-week start delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation (NBO) hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)

Required Documentation & Health Screenings

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start
  • Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
  • State License: Must be valid for Georgia within 30 days prior to start
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification required within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical Exam: Required by agency within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending

Additional Requirements

  • References: 2 clinical references required by agency
  • Skills Checklist: Must be updated within 12 months
  • Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; professional appearance policy must be reviewed and followed
  • Code of Conduct: Must be reviewed and signed prior to start

This position is suitable for Registered Nurses with at least 1 year of experience in Renal Medical-Surgical settings who are comfortable working with adult to geriatric patients and using Epic electronic health records. Prior travel experience is not required.
