Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Utica, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Med Surg unit with occasional stroke patients
• Experience needed with stroke patients and occasional Peritoneal Dialysis patients
• Med/Surg staffing ratios:

  • Days: 1:5-6
  • Nights: 1:6-7

Requirements

• License: New York RN license required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Med Surg with stroke and dialysis experience)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (valid for 2 years)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Skills: EPIC experience required
• Other:

  • Must be able to take occasional stroke patients
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Time Off

• Return to Office (RTO): Only one holiday allowed
• Total time off: 7 days or less

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Emergency Contact Form
• Background Checks including:

  • 7-year work/school/location history
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
  • Education Verification
• Certifications verification (BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke, etc.)
• Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific, annual)
• Competency Exams including:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, Med Surg 7th floor)
  • Color Blind Testing
• Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, job description acknowledgment, and online learning modules completion prior to first shift
• Physical Exam within 1 year of start
• Fit Mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year (with specific documentation requirements)
• Immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
• Drug Testing: 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal Flu Vaccination or Declination (required during flu season)
• Pneumonia Vaccination or Declination

References & Skills

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
• Skills checklist required annually

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted within a 75-mile radius
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
• Must be able to work both day and night shifts as per staffing ratios
