Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: January 5
  • Shift: Days (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
  • Patient Ratios: Typically 1:5, with potential for 1:6-7
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes; 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • On-Call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: Yes
  • Pending License Accepted: No
  • RTO (Request Time Off) Restrictions:
    • No holiday RTO allowed
    • Maximum 5 total RTO days in the 13-week assignment
    • No RTO approved the day before, day of, or day after a holiday
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 4 years hospital experience OR 2 years hospital experience with no prior travel experience (higher value applies → 4 years required if prior travel experience)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required if over 4 years hospital experience
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or American Red Cross accepted
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for Tele/PCU, ER, ICU/CCU, PACU, OR; preferred for Observation unit
  • Preferred Certifications:
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for Med Surg, ER, ICU)
    • Basic dysrhythmia training (self-rating 3 or above) preferred
  • Other: Cardiac competency self-rating of 3 or above required

Patient Population & Unit Information

  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level 3 Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 171
  • Common Diagnoses/Procedures:
    • Altered mental status
    • Congestive heart failure (CHF)
    • Stroke
    • Orthopedics
    • Surgical patients
    • Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
    • Infections
  • Mental Health: Units may care for patients with mental health diagnoses
  • Charting System: EPIC

Compliance & Requirements

  • Background Check: Complete 7-year criminal search required within 30 days of start
  • Education: Copy of diploma or transcript required (cannot be pending at start)
  • Competency Exam: Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within 1 year stating "cleared to work" with physician signature
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive)
    • Required immunizations/titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug test within 30 days of start (10-panel, negative results)
    • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - May 1)
  • References: 2 references required prior to start
  • Work History: Verification of last 3 years required (attestations acceptable; can be pending at start)
  • Attendance Policy: Zero-fault attendance policy; 2 missed shifts = warning, 3+ missed shifts = possible cancellation

Additional Notes

  • Clinicians must complete required facility modules before start date
  • Photo for badge required prior to start (plain white background, no filters)
  • Confidentiality agreement, job description, and code of conduct acknowledgment must be signed prior to start
  • Parking is free

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses comfortable with cardiac patient care and working in a fast-paced acute care trauma center environment.
