Job Opportunity: Radiology / Cardiology Technologist
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a very fast-paced Emergency Department environment using Siemens and GE scanners (Siemens S3000 and Sequoia models).
- Perform CT procedures including Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Brain Perfusion, CTAs, and Multiplanar Reconstruction.
- Patient population includes infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Typical daily caseload: 150-200 scans across 4 rooms.
- Weekend night shifts only: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 19:45 to 08:15 (12-hour night shifts).
- No call or float requirements.
- No weekend RTO (Return to Office) allowed.
- Orientation attendance is mandatory; missing any portion may delay or cancel the start date. Start dates may vary (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday of the first week).
Required Skills & Certifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Radiology/Cardiology specialty.
- Experience with inpatient, ER, and adult ICU settings.
- Must have experience with GE & Siemens scanners (Siemens experience is mandatory).
- Some trauma experience required.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT(R)(CT) (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Radiography and CT)
- CT procedure experience as listed above.
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
- Outpatient experience
- IV starts
- PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)
- Contrast administration
- Visage system experience
Work Environment & Schedule
- Emergency Department setting with a very fast pace.
- Staffing: 4-5 techs on first shift, 2-3 techs on second shift, 1 tech on third shift, and 2 techs on weekends.
- Typical case load per tech during an 8-hour shift: 8-12 patients.
- Weekend night shifts only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
- Scrubs color: Royal Blue.
Systems & Equipment
- Siemens and GE scanners (Siemens S3000 and Sequoia).
- Unit systems: EPIC, Visage.
Compliance & Requirements
- Background checks including criminal, education verification, and various state-specific searches required within 90 days of start.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; if past positive TB, additional requirements apply.
- Fit testing for N95 mask or PAPR training required.
- Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel).
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or facility-specific declination)
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit specifics.
- Radiation badge required for CT techs.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and documentation (e.g., confidentiality agreement, hospital policies, medication safety).
- Candidates must complete a color blind test within 1 year of start.
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years for travel allied acute care candidates.
Important Notes
- No weekend RTO allowed.
- Start date is subject to change based on class and trainer availability; full availability during orientation is mandatory.
- Interview with the hiring manager is required before offer.
- Candidates must be fully available with no other commitments during orientation week.
This position is ideal for Radiology/Cardiology technologists with strong CT experience on Siemens scanners, comfortable working in a fast-paced emergency department environment, and available for weekend night shifts. Prior travel experience is not required.
