Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Unit: HVTI-Stepdown (Cardiac Stepdown Unit)

Contract Details

• Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts only
• Schedule: Day/Night rotating shifts (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm)
• Shifts may be variable to meet hospital operational needs; facility will try to honor preferred shifts but reserves the right to rotate.
• Must work at least every other holiday.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 18 months of permanent experience in the specialty prior to travel.
• Must have 18 months of recent Cardiac Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted).
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand.
• Required certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS Stroke Certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
• ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate pass required during orientation.

Orientation & Testing

• Pass/fail ECG and medication dosing testing completed onsite during orientation.
• Orientation includes completion of SafeMedicate preparation materials.
• Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later).
• Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap (every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer with booster if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.

Background & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment.
• Background check required prior to start, including FCRA-compliant 7-year search and education verification.
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually. Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
• Fingerprinting must be done under nursing code 4723.09. Facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start.

Documentation & History

• Employment application must include 3 years prior work history, with at least 2 years in acute care and similar area to assignment.
• Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
• Skills checklist required annually.

Additional Notes

• Candidates must complete all required online onboarding modules prior to clearance to start. Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
• Candidates returning to the facility with less than a 6-month gap may have some orientation/testing requirements waived.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
