Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Work Schedule: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends during the contract
  • Specialty: Acute care hospital inpatient Case Management (CM) experience required
  • Additional Experience: Must have either prior travel experience or EPIC system experience
  • Licensure: Candidates can submit with Virginia license pending

Required Experience

Certifications & Licenses

    • BLS (Basic Life Support)

    • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) for Behavioral Health nurses
  • Pass/Fail Cardiac Rhythm Assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions and Mother-Baby units

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated every 30 days
  • Education verification through a 3rd party vendor (BSN preferred; ASN required if no BSN)
  • Transcript/Diploma: Official transcript acceptable; photocopy of diploma not accepted
  • Fingerprinting: Virginia State Police fingerprinting required for Behavioral Health candidates and as notified by facility
  • Abuse Registry Search: Required only for candidates assigned to specific units (e.g., 5 East) and Behavioral Health
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen including Marijuana and Fentanyl within 2 months of start, updated annually
  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Immunizations & Health Documentation:
    • Tdap (no exemptions allowed)
    • Negative TB test (2-step PPD or Qgold) with chest x-ray if positive
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no declinations)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive surface antibody titer required or antigen titer if antibody low/negative
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or titer required (declination accepted but must be documented)
    • Flu vaccination required annually (no exemptions)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Review and initial professional appearance guidelines
  • Complete various facility-specific forms prior to start (e.g., EH Screening, Release Authorization, TB Screening, Traveler Compliance)
  • Fit testing required for patient-facing clinical roles, completed onsite if required
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire if applicable

Competencies & Evaluations

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
  • Skills Checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Performance and internal evaluations required if previously worked with the system over 1 year

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required

  • Radiation badges no longer provided for new candidates; must be supplied by client if needed

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with acute care inpatient case management skills, who are comfortable working travel contracts and have either prior travel experience or EPIC system knowledge.
