Position Details

Unit and Patient Population

• Progressive Critical Care Unit (PCU)
• Care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients
• Common conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, endocrine disorders, complex traumas, and surgical complications
• Average patient load: 3 high acuity patients

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty (PCU/ICU nursing)
• Competent in care of medical and surgical populations
• Experience with ACLS and advanced hemodynamics, including pressor usage per titration protocols
• Skilled in managing antihypertensive drips, sedative and narcan drips, thrombo-embolytics
• Familiarity with arterial line (a line), central venous pressure (CVP), external ventricular drain (EVD), orthopedic traction, and infection prevention protocols
• Experience with HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and oxypendent devices
• Nurses with large scale adult PCU and community hospital ICU experience tend to perform well

Additional Requirements

• Epic experience is required
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Competency test required within 24 hours of submission
