Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule & Work Details
- 36/36 or 36/48 schedule (use whichever is appropriate for the employment agreement)
- Rotating weekends and rotating holidays
- No call required
- Self-scheduling available
- Hospital may cancel/call off one shift biweekly without financial penalty if census decreases
- Additional shifts picked up as overtime may be flexed based on hospital census without penalty
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (higher value confirmed)
- Accepts first-time travelers (prior travel experience NOT required)
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility
Certifications & Licenses
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- NIH Stroke Certification (check unit description for requirement)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for ER; can be pending at start but highly preferred
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) highly preferred for ER candidates
- State nursing license verification required (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS verification required
Orientation & Training
- General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Expected to participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
- Fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
- MMR titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) required; boosters or vaccine documentation accepted if low immunity
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination accepted
- Varicella titer required; boosters or vaccine documentation accepted if low immunity
- Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge within 48 hours of signed contract (ID photo standards apply)
- Completion of staff info form within 24 hours of signed contract
- Review and compliance with department-specific uniform guidelines, dress code, contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement, smoking and tobacco use policy, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire
- Respiratory medical clearance form to be completed by candidate and facility
- CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use must be reviewed
Competencies & Exams
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- General competency exam required
