Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York

Job Requirements

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • New York RN License required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
• Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years acute hospital nursing experience required
  • Prior travel experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
• Other Requirements:

  • Must be willing to float to other units as needed based on skillset and manager discretion
  • No local candidates allowed within a 50-mile radius or from specified counties around Saratoga Springs

Required Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
• BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required for Labor & Delivery RNs
• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable
• Advanced EKG/ECG testing with a minimum passing score required within 72 hours of contract signing (specific units require 90% pass rate and 100% on lethal rhythms)
• NIH Stroke Certification required for certain units
• Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for all RNs and LPNs)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start date (onsite physical required prior to start)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold acceptable; T-spot not accepted)
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024
• 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (LabCorp preferred)
• Fit mask testing (N95 OSHA questionnaire and fit test required; quantitative test only accepted for 3M 1870 mask)
• Color blindness test (Ishihara’s test) required prior to start

Background & Documentation

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Standard background checks including 7-year search, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
• Facility-specific documents such as photo for badge, lift assessment, FCRA authorization, ECG study guide, and various questionnaires/forms required during onboarding
• References:

  • 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
  • 1 professional reference for per diem non-acute care roles

Additional Notes

• Candidates must not reside within a 50-mile radius or in specified counties around Saratoga Springs to be eligible
• Facility requires completion of virtual orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start date
• EKG/ECG testing has a strict retesting policy with a maximum of 3 attempts allowed
• Flu vaccine exemptions require prior approval and mask-wearing in patient-facing areas if approved

This position is ideal for experienced Registered Nurses with acute care backgrounds and prior travel nursing experience who are flexible and meet the comprehensive certification and health requirements.
