Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry/Step-Down Unit
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Start Date: Approximately 3-4 weeks out (based on compliance tier)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:4-5
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Telemetry/Step-Down experience required)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-Call: Not required
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: No more than 7 days of RTO per 13-week contract
  • Guaranteed Hours: Yes

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Telemetry/Step-Down experience including EKG and cardiac drips competency

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks

  • Criminal background check within 6 months (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM quarterly checks
  • HHS/OIG quarterly checks
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not required for IL Home Care)
  • Education verification of highest nursing education
  • State-specific searches (Missouri and Illinois) as applicable

Licensure

  • Primary source verification of professional nursing license (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
  • Missouri licenses require NURSYS verification and proof of IV certification for LPN/LVN if applicable
  • Illinois temporary licenses require approval; permanent license needed for extension

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Unit-specific competency exam, updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for telemetry and related units, updated annually

Health Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or immunity documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific drug panels and be current throughout assignment
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
