Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Procedure Center (Travel/Contract)

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Cardiac Procedure Center, Prep Recovery Area
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (Monday through Friday)
  • Hours:
    • 0600-1830 (early and late shifts)
    • 0800-2030 (close shift, one per week)
  • No weekends, no holidays, no on-call required
  • Patient Ratio: 1:3
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Local Radius Rule: Home address must be at least 75 miles from facility
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty (Cardiac Procedure Center prep/recovery)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
  • Knowledgeable in:
    • Cardiac catheterizations and stent placement
    • Electrophysiology procedures
    • Vascular procedures
    • Prepping and recovering patients for above procedures
  • Skilled in pulling sheaths efficiently
  • Able to manage cardiac drips (including titration), vasoactive drips (no titration)
  • Proficient in:
    • Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
    • Post cardio angiogram care
    • Sheath removal and TR band application
    • Accessing ports
    • Blood product administration
    • Phlebotomy
    • Peripheral line and PICC line care/management
    • Starting IVs
    • Heparin protocols
    • Oxygen delivery methods (nasal cannula, face masks, portable tanks)
    • Isolation precautions

Certifications Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Criminal background check (7-year search, statewide and nationwide as applicable)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (quarterly updates required)
  • Education verification (highest nursing education)
  • Professional license verification (NURSYS for Missouri licenses)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, must remain valid throughout assignment
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test (N95) annually required
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
  • Facility-specific documents including:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
    • Confidentiality Form
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual training and quiz)
    • Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, Dress Code policies acknowledgment
    • Orientation modules (approx. 16 hours, required prior to start)
  • References: Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Unit-specific competency exams including dysrhythmia/EKG competency (updated annually)

This is a travel contract RN position in a cardiac procedure center requiring at least 1 year of relevant experience, ACLS and BLS certifications, and proficiency in cardiac cath lab prep and recovery care. The role offers a stable schedule with no weekends or holidays and requires compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and facility-specific training. First-time travelers are welcome, but local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted.
