Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM; 8:30 AM - 9:00 PM)
- Schedule: On-call rotation and every other weekend
- Specialty: Dialysis (Hemodialysis - IHD)
- Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent permanent Dialysis experience prior to travel
- Licensing: Must have permanent Ohio license or compact state license in hand
- Certifications:
- BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
- ACLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
Clinical Information
- Provides intermittent hemodialysis (IHD) services in dialysis unit and bedside ICU patients
- Connects and disconnects patients from peritoneal dialysis treatment
- Does not provide CRRT therapy (managed by ICU nurses)
- Primarily uses Fresenius dialysis machines with full orientation provided
- No use of PIRRT or Tablo machines
Required Experience
- Dialysis: Minimum 18 months permanent dialysis experience prior to travel
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (monthly)
- HHS/OIG (monthly)
- Fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually
- Education verification required
- Employment application with 3 years prior work history including at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
- Two recent references from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director within one year of start (co-worker references not accepted)
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS and BLS required prior to start
- Pass/Fail EKG/Medication testing during orientation (not required for legacy candidates with less than 6-month gap between contracts)
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required annually
- State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Additional certifications such as PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, NIH Stroke Certification may be required or preferred depending on unit (not specifically required for this dialysis role)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask (N95) within 12 months of start, updated annually
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone)
- Pass/Fail testing during orientation for bedside RNs
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will conduct their own fingerprinting in addition to agency process
- Candidates can start with fingerprint results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Annual renewal of required documents and certifications
