Job Details

  • Unit: Cardiac units including cardio-thoracic surgery, open heart patients, TAVR, post cath lab, post cardiac surgery patients with telemetry
  • Patient Ratios:
    • ICU shifts: 1:1
    • Telemetry shifts: 2:1
  • Float: Yes, within cardiac service line
  • Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week period (every other weekend)
  • Holiday Work: Travelers required to work holidays as necessary
  • Local Radius Rule: 75 miles (locals not accepted)
  • Pending License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)

Experience & Certifications

  • Required Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years CVU experience (highest requirement)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-timers (prior travel experience required)
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Hemodynamics and ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips
    • Experience with cardiac assistive machines
    • EPIC charting system experience

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Licenses:
    • Current, up-to-date nursing license required
    • Missouri licenses verifiable on NURSYS
    • Primary source verification required
  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 6 months
    • Statewide and nationwide searches including sex offender registry
    • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
    • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
    • Tdap vaccine or declination required
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
    • Drug testing within 1 year, including specific panels
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season
  • Facility Specific Documents:
    • HIPAA Acknowledgement
    • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
    • Confidentiality Form
    • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, via WorkRamp)
    • Hepatitis B declination form (annual)
    • TB Questionnaire (annual)

    • Orientation Modules (approx. 16 hours, required prior to start)
