Job Summary: Radiology / Cardiology Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Carmel, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- Weekends only: Friday and Saturday nights (pre-screen confirmation required)
- Shift: Saturday & Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- On-call required: One weekend per month plus 1-2 weekdays per month; holidays may be required
- Up to 5 call shifts per month
- Guaranteed hours vary:
- 8 and 10-hour shifts totaling 36-48 hours per week depending on schedule
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience required
- First-time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
- Locals accepted
- Must have Indiana state license and required certifications in hand before starting (no pending licenses accepted)
- No floating between units or sister facilities required
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only, RQI acceptable
- ARRT certification
- Indiana State License
- Additional certifications may be required depending on cost center (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification)
Skills & Competencies
- Must be able to perform general X-ray
- Multi-modality CT/XR Technologist
- Comfortable working alone at times
- Experience with Siemens, Carestream Portable, Phillips equipment
- Unit includes:
- 2 Phillips IQon CT Scanners
- 2 Siemens DR X-ray Rooms
- Carestream Portable units
- Patient types: ER, inpatient, outpatient, adult, pediatrics
- Stroke 1 Accredited Hospital
Facility & Work Environment
- Short-Term Acute Care facility
- 153 staffed beds
- Charting system: Cerner
- Free parking
- Scrub color: Royal Blue
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level III, education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official transcript or diploma (may be pending at start)
- Education verification by 3rd party (may be pending at start)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (not required for techs or RRTs)
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
- Unit competency exam
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
Additional Notes
- Must complete facility-specific forms and orientation packets prior to start
- IU Health policy effective 11/30/24 restricts Indiana RNs from working at IU Health facilities except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (this position is Allied)
- On-site fit testing available only as last resort with limitations
- PAPR use requires prior facility approval
This position is ideal for a Radiology/Cardiology technologist with at least 1 year of experience, who is licensed in Indiana, comfortable working weekends and on-call shifts, and able to work independently with multi-modality imaging equipment.
