Job Description

• Maintain accession records and correctly accession, label, fix, and direct specimens received in the gross room.
• Perform grossing with clear, concise, and complete description and dissection.
• Prioritize tasks to enhance efficiency, production, and output.
• Verify specimen identification and evaluate specimen condition while maintaining integrity.
• Coordinate accession activities with clerical and professional staff.
• Perform quality audits as required.
• Ensure availability of proper supplies and maintain a clean, sterile working area.
• Maintain instruments at top performance and perform preventive maintenance per manufacturer and department policies.
• Work independently, recognize necessary duties, assist others, and accept new tasks as assigned.
• Communicate professionally and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, medical staff, and hospital personnel.
• Comply with hospital and laboratory safety requirements, report hazards, and complete mandatory in-services on time.
• Maintain adequate staffing coverage across all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Perform duties in accordance with organizational values, policies, and procedures.
• Support the unit, department, and health system with other assigned duties.
