Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Setting: Emergency Department (Non-Trauma) – very large, busy, high acuity
Patient Population: Adolescents to Geriatrics
Unit Size: 59 Bed ER, averaging 165-175 patients per day
Ratio: 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
Electronic Systems: Epic (required), Pyxis
Contract Details
- Length: 14 weeks
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Return to Office (RTO): 7 days max
- Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
- Floating: Rare
- Holiday Work: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (if 1 holiday falls, work it; if 2 holidays, work both; if 3 holidays, work 2)
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years (1st time travelers not accepted)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Additional Certifications (may be required):
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – online course required within a few months of hire
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required by agency)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ER and related units)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- General Competency Exam (required by agency)
Compliance & Onboarding
- Full compliance with documentation and certifications required to start on time; delays in compliance may push start date by 2 weeks due to orientation scheduling
- Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final manager approval
- Locals accepted at same rate
Required Documentation & Health Screenings
- Background Check: Comprehensive background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
- Education Verification: Degree verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process
- State License: Georgia RN license verification within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical Exam: Required by agency within 1 year of start
- TB Testing: Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B series or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required (strongly encouraged during flu season)
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
- References: 2 clinical references required by agency
- Skills Checklist: Updated within 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process

- Stroke and STEMI certified unit
- High acuity emergency department
- Minimal floating expected
- Candidate must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses with required certifications and a minimum of 2 years specialty experience, ready to work in a fast-paced, high-volume ER setting in Augusta, Georgia.
