Job Summary: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Pediatric Float RN position with a ratio of 1:5.
- Requires 1.5+ years of nursing experience.
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience not required).
- Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays as applicable.
- Must float between Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (no chemo/infusions), pediatrics, adolescents, newborn nursery, and Special Care Nursery (SCN).
- May also take Med/Surg assignments in all areas including PICU, NICU, and Pediatric ED.
- No block scheduling.
- Local candidates accepted.
- Maximum 7 days return to office (RTO).
- Special requirements: Experience with IV pumps, pulse oximeters, cardiac monitoring, IVs, TPN, G-tube, trach tubes, central lines, Foley catheters, NG tubes, respiratory treatments, transfusions, and pre/post-op care.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience in specialty.
- Prior travel experience not required.
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- APHON (Association of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Nurses) certification preferred but not required.
Skills and Competencies
- Must be proficient with IV pumps, pulse oximeters, cardiac monitoring.
- Experience with IVs, TPN, G-tube, trach tubes, central lines, Foley catheters, NG tubes, respiratory treatments, transfusions, and pre/post-op care.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history.
- Two references within the last 2 years (one managerial).
- Background check within 30 days of start, including aliases and multiple checks (criminal, nationwide, sex offender, etc.).
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine drug screen).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes.
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease.
- Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually.
- Fit test and respiratory medical clearance prior to start (on-site fit testing mandatory).
- Color blindness test if job tasks require color discrimination.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 72 hours of signing.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for applicable units.
- Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge with remediation policy.
- Annual education sign-off and facility-specific floating policy acknowledgment required.
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (online and in-person portions).
- Various other certifications and CEUs may be required depending on assignment area.
Additional Notes
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are accepted.
- Floating between multiple pediatric and med/surg units is expected.
- Locals are accepted for this travel/contract role.
- Must be able to provide required documentation and clear all compliance checks prior to start.
- Contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
