Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work days, 12-hour shifts with start times at 7 or 8 AM
- Every other weekend rotation
- Provide intermittent dialysis and support continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) for patients of all ages
- Deliver bedside hemodialysis treatments for patients requiring one-on-one intensive or intermediate care
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in inpatient settings across multiple hospital locations
- Floating required: may be assigned to multiple units or locations based on staffing needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Inpatient Hemodialysis experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or similar size hospital required
- Experience with both adult and pediatric patient populations required
- Peritoneal dialysis (PD) and CRRT experience preferred
- Epic electronic health record experience required (preferably within last 12 months)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Licensure & Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state required
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required (American Heart Association only)
- Telemetry test (pass/fail) required before starting assignment
Additional Requirements
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Must be willing to travel to other hospital locations as needed
- Parking permit required if parking onsite; alternative transportation options available
Compliance & Documentation
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
- Education verification and licensure primary source verification required
- Drug screening required per standard clinical guidelines
- Various health documents required including:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- Immunizations or exemptions for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Flu, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Meningococcal
- Physical exam (per agency standard)
- Facility-specific forms and acknowledgments including:
- Telemetry pass/fail testing and remediation process
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Wisconsin BID form and caregiver screening (state-mandated)

Summary
This travel RN role requires strong inpatient hemodialysis experience, including care for pediatric and adult patients, with a minimum of 2 years acute care experience. Candidates must be licensed in Wisconsin or a compact state, hold current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, and pass a telemetry competency test. Flexibility to float across units and travel between hospital locations is essential. The position offers a 13-week contract with 12-hour day shifts and every other weekend rotation.
