Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, start times 7 or 8 AM
- Schedule: Every other weekend rotation
- Setting: Inpatient hemodialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) support at a Level 1 Trauma academic hospital
- Patient Population: Adults and pediatric patients
- Floating: Travelers may float to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
Responsibilities
- Provide bedside hemodialysis treatments requiring one-on-one intensive or intermediate care
- Support intermittent dialysis and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for patient care management
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Inpatient hemodialysis experience at an academic Level 1 trauma center or similar hospital size
- Experience with both adult and pediatric patient populations
- Preferred experience with peritoneal dialysis (PD) and CRRT
- Epic electronic health record experience required (preferably within last 12 months)
- Basic arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
Licensure & Certifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin or a Nurse Licensure Compact state
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Telemetry competency: Must pass facility-specific Telemetry test before starting
Location & Travel
- Primary work site in Madison, WI with possible travel to other nearby hospital locations
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-jurisdictional search for past 7 years
- Monthly monitoring for EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG compliance
- Education verification as applicable
- Facility-specific testing including Telemetry exams (Adult and Pediatric) with strict passing criteria and remediation process
- Required health documents including:
- Immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemptions)
- TB testing and questionnaire
- Drug screening (per facility and department requirements)
- Signed acknowledgments for safety manuals and pass/fail testing
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)

- Floating assignments may require flexibility in work location and unit
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with strong hemodialysis skills, telemetry competency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced academic hospital environment caring for both adult and pediatric patients.
