Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • 1st time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required)

Patient Population

  • Adolescents to Geriatrics

Work Setting

  • General Emergency Department (Non-Trauma)
  • Very large, busy, high acuity
  • Stroke and STEMI Certified
  • 59 Bed ER averaging 165-175 patients per day
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Systems and Equipment

  • Epic Electronic Health Record (required)
  • Pyxis medication system

Schedule and Work Conditions

  • Return to Office (RTO): 7 days max
  • Weekends: Every other weekend
  • Floating: Rare
  • Holidays: Must work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Compliance and Orientation

  • Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
  • Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)

Required Documentation and Health Requirements

  • Background Check (including education verification) completed prior to start
  • State RN License verification (Georgia) within 30 days prior to start
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • TB Questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B series or signed declination
    • Flu vaccine or declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable if close to start date)
  • Color Blind Testing required
  • Competency exams including Medication Test/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG competency (specific to ER and related units)

Additional Requirements

  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months
  • Verification of most recent work history (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required

Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate
  • Clinical screening required to determine fit before final manager approval
  • Candidate must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs with prior travel contract experience who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are comfortable working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
