Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (MS RN Nights)
- Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
- Location: Pittsfield, MA
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Med-Surg (MS) experience required
- Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- License: Massachusetts RN license in hand (proof required)
- Certifications Required:
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — AHA or Red Cross preferred; required for Med-Surg/Telemetry units
- Additional Certifications:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred but not required for ICU
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred for ER but not required
Competencies & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Med-Surg/Telemetry)
- Color Blind Testing (Ishihara test required for certain units)
- Pass/Fail Testing on EKG/Medication on first day of orientation
Required Documents & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form (prior to start)
- Background Checks including:
- 7-year SS Trace and County searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM (annual)
- HHS/OIG (annual)
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search
- CORI release (criminal background check)
- Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and scrub color guidelines
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Testing for N95 mask (3M Model 1860) required for all units including OR
- Drug Screening: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant screens not accepted)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QuantiFERON Gold or TSpot within 6 months or 2-step PPD)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccine doses required
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer required; declination only accepted with low titer and completed declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or history of chickenpox
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct-May)
- COVID-19 Vaccination: Annual vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption with facility-specific form
References & History
- Two professional references required (within 3 years of start)
- Annual skills checklist required
This position requires a BSN degree and all certifications/licenses must be current and verifiable prior to start. The role involves night shifts on a Med-Surg unit with a focus on patients requiring NIH Stroke Scale competency. Compliance with all health and safety documentation, immunizations, and background checks is mandatory.
