Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Ortho MS RN)
Location: Lynchburg, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 or 4x12 hour night shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM)
- Work radius: 60 miles
- Specialty: Orthopedic Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years Medical-Surgical experience
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Prior travel experience required (first-time travelers not accepted)
- Orientation: Biweekly on Mondays
- Licensure: Candidates with pending certifications will be considered
- Scrubs: Any color, professional appearance; child-friendly print tops allowed; scrub/lab coat allowed
- Nicotine-free campus
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – preferred
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Unexpired government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including SS Trace, County searches (last 7 years), Nationwide, Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3 (updated annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to start
- National certification verification prior to start and upon expiration
- State license verification prior to start and upon expiration
- NURSYS verification prior to start
- Signed Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (updated annually)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Specialty skills checklist required
- Minimum 2 professional references within past 2 years
- Physical exam within last 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within last year (or chest X-ray within 5 years if positive PPD)
- TB questionnaire annually if applicable
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
- Hepatitis B: Series, positive titer, or declination accepted
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox
- Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days prior to start
- Flu vaccination required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
Additional Notes
- Must submit a complete packet including candidate profile, specialty skills checklist, minimum 2 manager/charge references, RN license verification, and all required certifications.
- This is a nicotine-free facility.
- Professional appearance and adherence to dress code required.
