Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts (7:00am - 7:30pm)
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, every other weekend, some holidays required
- Unit: Pediatric ICU, 21-bed unit providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children
- Patient Population: Pediatric patients with medical and surgical problems including acute head injuries, neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
- Floating: May be assigned to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a high acuity hospital setting required for first-time travelers
- Strong Pediatric ICU experience required
- At least 1 year of cardiovascular (CV) experience required
- Must have completed 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Candidates with strong Level II experience may be considered
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from permanent address state required
- BLS (American Heart Association) required
- PALS (American Heart Association) required
- EPIC experience required (preferably within the past 12 months)
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
- ACLS certification may be required depending on unit
Education
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred
Additional Requirements
- Traveler’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Must pass facility-specific Pediatric Telemetry Test (WorkRamp) prior to start and annually thereafter
- Background checks and caregiver screening per Wisconsin state mandates required
- Various health documents required including:
- Proof of immunizations (MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap) or approved exemptions
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
- Drug screening required per facility and Vaya standards
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety acknowledgments
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required; first-time travelers allowed if experience criteria are met
