Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

• Licensure: Must have New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry
• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Shift: 4x12 hour day shifts
• Weekend: Every other weekend
• Local Radius: Must live within 75 miles

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
• NIH Stroke Certification (to be updated annually)

Skills & Experience

• Ability to manage patient ratios from 1:5 to 1:7 on MedSurg unit
• Experience with EPIC charting system required
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response and Code teams
• IV therapy and phlebotomy: Peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Knowledge of isolation precautions

Unit Description

• Acute Stroke Unit (39 beds) specializing in acute stroke and neurological disorders
• Provides evidence-based care for stroke prevention and acute care phases
• Tertiary care hospital with 528 staffed beds

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, national sex offender, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Various certifications and verifications must be completed within 30 days of start (e.g., State License Verification, NURSYS Verification)
• Health requirements to be completed within 5 days of contract signing, including:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year)
  • Fit mask test (annual)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening (within 30 days of start)
  • Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen, within 1 year)
• References and employment verification required
• State-specific documents and checks as applicable (e.g., NYS Nurse Aide Registry, Criminal Background Fingerprint Results, Sex Offender Registry, Medicaid Exclusion List)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced acute care environment with neurological and medical patients
• Must be comfortable with a variable patient acuity model
• Scrub color: Any combination of navy and white

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience who hold a current NY license and are comfortable working in a specialized acute stroke and neurological care unit. Prior travel experience is not required.
