Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Lafayette, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work in a Mixed Acuity Unit including medical patients and some PCU level of care patients.
- Unit specialties include oncology, stroke, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary care.
- Patient ratios: MS patients 1:5-6, PCU patients 1:3-4.
- Care for unstable stroke patients and those requiring BiPAP.
- Experience with Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Insulin drips, Post Heart Cath, and Post Pacemaker care required.
- Must have solid neurological nursing experience.
- Accepting RNs with MS/Telemetry or PCU experience.
- Shift options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts.
- Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during the contract.
- Locals are NOT accepted for this assignment.
- Pending license candidates are NOT accepted; must have an Indiana state license and required certifications in hand before starting.

- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for ER RNs)
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., Chemotherapy, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)
Experience Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse with solid neuro experience.

- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Flu vaccination/documentation required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31), no declinations accepted
- Color blind testing required (Ishihara exam or equivalent).
Additional Requirements
- Must complete facility-specific forms and orientation packets prior to start.
- Must have a minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years.
- Employment application and skills checklist must be current and complete.
- Must be able to wear scrub colors: red top and black bottoms.
- Charting system used: Cerner.

Important Notes
- This is a short-term acute care facility with 194 staffed beds.
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RN travelers to work at their facilities effective 11/30/24, except for Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers.
- This unit will not accept Return to Office (RTO) requests for the period 11/23 through 11/29.
