Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN) - Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Rochester, New York
Start Date: March 3, 2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts
Weekend: Every other weekend

Specialty & Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (MS/Tele RN)
• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
• Licensure: Must have a valid New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
• Locals: Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)

Patient Care & Unit Details

• Patient ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 for MedSurg patients
• Unit size: 26 beds
• Patient population: Post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, cardiac pharmacological interventions
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required, including:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• IV therapy/phlebotomy: Peripheral line care and management
• Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
• Professional skills: Isolation precautions

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI acceptable
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider/instructor/RQI acceptable (as required by unit)
• Other certifications may be required based on unit description (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM)

Charting & Technology

• EPIC charting experience is required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Candidates must complete the following prior to or shortly after start date:

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal background, SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender registry, education verification, and eligibility to work in the U.S.
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start (with acceptable mask types)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
• Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• Completion of required competency exams and skills checklists annually
• Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be able to work every other weekend and be available for holidays.
• Locals within 75 miles are not eligible for this assignment.
• First-time travel nurses are accepted for this position.

This opportunity is ideal for a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of MedSurg/Telemetry experience, who holds a current NY RN license, and is comfortable working night shifts in a cardiac-focused tertiary care setting.
