Description

Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - Rochester, NY

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: February 17, 2026
Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Location: Must be more than 75 miles from Rochester, NY (locals accepted beyond this radius)
Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry
Required Specialty Experience: 1 year
Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
Required License: New York RN license in hand (no exceptions)
Charting System: EPIC required
Patient Ratio: 1:5 to 1:7 (MedSurg)
Certification Requirements:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as required by unit
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit description (PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification)

Unit & Patient Population Details

  • 26 beds specializing in care of patients post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacological interventions
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, use of Rapid Response/Code teams
  • IV therapy and phlebotomy: Peripheral line care/management
  • Respiratory care: Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks, non-invasive airway management
  • Professional skills: Isolation precautions

  • Total staffed beds: 528

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, run monthly
  • Education verification from primary source (transcripts/diplomas if no verification on file)
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained internationally
  • State license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella as per facility requirements
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (if booked within 30 days)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
  • Color blind testing (one-time)
  • Competency exams as required by specialty
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
  • References: 2 references within 3 years (required for Aya candidates)
  • Employment application and work history verification (minimum 2 past employments verified)

State-Specific Requirements (New York)

  • NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable) within 3 months of start for certain units
  • Fingerprinting and disciplinary action search for Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, and LTC units (if applicable)
  • Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days of start
  • NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start, run monthly

Note: Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing their contract.
