Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Durham, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience
- Licensure: North Carolina or Compact nursing license in hand
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Work Schedule:
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating required
- Orientation: Bi-weekly
- Additional Requirements:
- Flu vaccination is mandatory; no exemptions or declinations accepted
- Local candidates within 75 miles are acceptable
- First-time travelers are welcome
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Must be completed within 90 days of start
- Includes SSN trace, county searches for past 7 years, sex offender, international searches (if applicable), education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine every 10 years
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations or positive antibody titers (no exemptions)
- Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (boosters required if low/equivocal)
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required for new candidates starting October through March (no exemptions)
- Polio vaccine or signed attestation
- References:
- Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, at least one must be a supervisor
- Employment Application: Required with 7 years of work history
Additional Notes
- Candidates must set up a Duke Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems
- Competency exams and unit-specific training required
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided during orientation (valid for 2 years)
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
- Candidates must complete all required online modules prior to orientation
- Candidate background and credential verifications must be current and compliant with Duke Health standards
Summary
This is a travel/contract Registered Nurse position in Durham, NC requiring at least 1 year of RN experience, NC or Compact license, and certifications in BLS and PALS.
