Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract Position
Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Setting: Home Health
- Shift: Days, 5x8 (08:00 - 16:30)
- Patient Load: 5-20 visits per day on average
- Weekend Requirement: Every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday) with 2 days off around the weekend (Thursday and Monday)
- On-Call Requirement: Yes, 3-5 nights per month; on-call nights will not be scheduled on days off
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
- Mileage Radius: 40-80 miles (mileage reimbursed)
- Locals Accepted: No
- Return to Office Restrictions: 7 days notice to terminate contract before 13 weeks
Experience & Requirements
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1-2 years in Medical-Surgical (MS) or acute care OR minimum 1 year in home care experience (use higher value: 2 years)
- Home Health Experience: Required
- First-Timers Accepted: Yes
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Pending License Accepted: Yes
Clinical Skills & Special Requirements
- Experience with diverse, high acuity patient population with limited resources
- Skills including:
- Phlebotomy
- Pleurex, catheters, port access and maintenance
- PT/INR finger sticks
- Wound vac and wound care
- Ventilator knowledge
- Compression wraps / layered compression
- Cardiac care: CADD pumps, handheld devices, ECG monitoring and telemetry interpretation
- Teams may include:
- MS Team: Antibiotic infusion, lab draws, IV care, ostomy care, tube feeding, wound vac, Foley care, disease management, patient education
- Cardiac Team: Infusions (inotropes, dobutamine, milrinone), IVP Lasix, post-op care
Documentation & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued ID (Driver’s License required for Home Health)
- Criminal Background Check (within 6 months) including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education verification of highest nursing degree
- Professional license primary source verification (Missouri licenses via NURSYS)
- Drug testing within 1 year of start, including multiple substances, must remain valid throughout assignment
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Facility-specific documents including:
- HIPAA Acknowledgement
- Latex Allergy Questionnaire
- Confidentiality Form
- Regulatory Compliance Education (annual, via WorkRamp)
- Hepatitis B declination (facility-specific)
- Hand Hygiene, Fingernail, Dress Code policies acknowledgment
- Orientation modules (required for all RNs and LVNs)
Additional Notes
- Must return all issued equipment (laptop, cell phone, nursing bag, supplies) upon contract completion
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific competency exams and skills checklists required and must be updated annually
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
